Personal honours and business awards experts, Awards Intelligence, expect Cowell to be formally recognised for his contribution to the music industry and charitable work when the recipients are unveiled on 31 December.

If knighted Cowell will be formally known as ‘Sir Simon Cowell’.

Commenting on Cowell’s anticipated Honour, Mark Lewellyn-Slade, Managing Director, Awards Intelligence said: “Love him or hate him, Simon does a lot for charity such as helping the victims of the Haiti earthquake and plays a key roll in keeping the UK music industry on the international map. We have been lobbying for a knighthood for Simon for a while now and think that this could be his big moment despite him having been overlooked in the past. I know he will jump for joy if it finally happens. He has done a great deal to help young people and provide them with opportunities as well as being an inspirational figure to many.”

Lord Sugar, who gained his own knighthood in 2000 for services to business, is also backing Cowell for an Honour and ex Prime Minister Gordon Brown is thought to have recommended Cowell for a knighthood just before leaving No.10.

Mark Llewellyn-Slade continued: “However, the vast majority of those honoured by the Queen are not famous. Anyone can be nominated for an award such as an OBE, MBE or knighthood if they have made a significant difference to their community or field of work. Many people mistakenly think that they must wait to be given an Honour and that there is no formal application process.”

There are in fact two routes by which people can enter the Queen’s Honours process:

• nomination by an individual or a public/private sector organisation familiar with the work of the candidate. This can include a family member, friend or work colleague.
• submission by a government department that has identified a candidate doing good work within its sphere of interest.

Honours lists are published twice a year at New Year and in mid-June on the date of The Queen’s official birthday.

In an audit carried out by the BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) it was shown [...]]]> Last year a record was set for the number of men that reduced their man boobs via plastic surgery. Figures released today showed there was an 80% increase in men who sought out breast reduction operations in the UK.

In an audit carried out by the BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) it was shown that surgeons performed 581 male breast reductions last year, which is a large increase over the 323 surgeries that were carried out in 2008.

This is also a big change from five years ago when only 22 men breast reduction surgeries were performed.  Now the surgery is the third most popular type of cosmetic operation for men outside of eyelid surgery and nose jobs.

At the root of the sudden influx of men seeking the surgery may be photos of Jack Nicholson, Simon Cowell, Chris Moyles, and Robbie Williams all who were shown man boobs and all on their yachts and the beaches.

It is expected that soon the number of breast reductions will increase up to an average of 1000 per year making the cosmetic surgery a multimillion pound industry.

The operation includes liposculpting via lasers which causes fat cells to start to break down.  After this, about a litre per breast of fat is taken out.

Harley Street Medical Skin Clinic Dr. Aamer Khan said that breast reduction is rising among men because men’s bodies are growing out as a result of lifestyle and environment which has become more lax in the last few years.
